As I said, Pep isn't all right

Manchester City may have all but won the Premier League but they won't make it a clean sweep in all four competitions. Their defeat last night by Wigan came about, in part, because of playing "too much football" (see Pep Isn't All Right, 13 Feb). In particular, England's right back, Kyle Walker, did a bizarre little dummy on the half way line - more of a dance step really - to a team mate who wasn't there, rather than play the ball the way he was facing, allowing the Wigan striker to run in behind him and score.

Here's a tip from me, Kyle: don't try that in the World Cup finals in the summer. You might not get criticised by Pep and the coaches at City, but you'd get slaughtered by England fans.

I expect to see more of this from City and I expect higher quality opponents than Wigan to capitalise.

It may be that this City team has already peaked. But they can always spend another half a billion on some players who are up to de Bruyne's standard, I suppose.

  1. Noticed your reference to the England football team here. However you have emigrated to Wales so I expect to see more about Welsh football on this blog site in future:-)

  2. Hmm, failed the Tebbit test then. And given today's demolition of Arsenal, maybe City haven't peaked!
